Betrayal

The empty page beckons me. The

metaphor not lost on my heart,

where the blood pumps

steady, moving gently through

the scarred atriums.

The pieces of my life scattered when

you betrayed my trust, blurring

my horizon into obscurity.

Your love withdrawn silently.

A wordless retraction, without honour

or thought, beyond keeping yourself safe.

I watched you closely, searching

the no man’s land you had created. Cowardly

retreating into a foreign bunker, held

by the mind of a woman, steadfast

on fulfilling her own desires. Greedy,

with her own lust, to possess

what was not hers to possess.

Actions speak louder than words!

Innumerable options, all present in time

The stumbling block just the voice in your mind

To say you’re not worthy; a veritable crime

Actions speak louder than words!

Don’t waste all your life, making list upon list

Or expect a quick cure from an online druggist

It’s pointless and futile; it’s plain defeatist

Actions speak louder than words!

So you think you’re not worthy, so why give a damn?

You’re bumbling along nicely, believing the sham

Asleep on autopilot, in a matrix program

Actions speak louder than words!

You’ve made the excuses and justified them all

Yet you still feel unsafe and your glass is half full

Can you see you’ve created the means to keep small?

Actions speak louder than words!

There’s only this moment; it’s never too late

Don’t be hard on yourself, there’s no need to berate

Take that first step, I guarantee you’ll feel great

Actions speak louder than words!

So believe you are perfect; you are meant to soar

There’s nothing you can’t do, when you trust from your core

You’re magnificent! Unique! So use your allure!

Actions speak louder than words!

Destiny

Destiny

How many degrees separate us

On this axis of life?

Where are you

That we remain strangers?

Have our paths crossed

As we invisibly amble?

Do you breathe unawareness

Malnourished also

By overpopulation?

Seek refuge in your heart

Destiny calls us

Unique to our quest

Waiting in the wings

For our paths to cross

Casting Shadows

P1020719

The sadness

Casts shadows

Unable to find the light

Or the darkness

Of oblivion

Wholeness

Hidden from view

Divided indiscriminately

By others

The pain

Multiplied by memories

That my heart can’t subtract

From the whole

Half finished sentences

Trailing behind me

Waiting to be heard

Which leaves me

Hidden from view

With only sadness

Casting shadows

Across my heart

Pain

Blinded by my own reflection

My heart in knots

I am scared to face

The void

For fear that it be filled

Once more

With the pain of the past

My African Friend

P1020687

My African friend, she shows me much strength

Although she’s just four, she is on my wavelength

Her Mother, she died, so suddenly one year

Yet she remains always smiling, from ear to ear

To have such a purpose, from such a young age

It heals my heart, while I turn my own page

She shines oh so brightly and holds life so dear

She shows me in life, that there’s nothing to fear

There’s much we can learn, from our own inner child

It teaches us not be meek, or be mild

Her purse it is poor, but her life is so full

She has won me over; shown me how to stand tall

So much time looking back, trying to fathom a reason

When instead we should be living, just season to season

The power of innocence, is so shiny and pure

It can heal your soul and your spirit it can cure

Her beauty shines through, her ever-present eyes

Showing me that love, is something, you cannot disguise

She’s honest, she’s genuine, she’s herself at her core

She’s an Angel in life, whom I love and adore
