Lies

The shards of truth

shine light,

illuminating the fable,

embellished by time.

Multiple tales

of a self-created fiction,

that forces itself

on the facts, that the

conscious mind

seeks to hide from itself.

A hall of mirrors, protects

the heart’s dishonesty.

The irony of the projection

destroying self-worth,

as the layers grow deeper,

reflected only, by the

white purity of the lie.

Loneliness

Loneliness

Loneliness

What do you want from me?

What is required of me

To bid you farewell?

I try to greet you

Embrace you

As I would a friend

Yet you turn your back

Uncomfortable in my presence

Why do you not face me?

Let me reassure you

That I wish you no harm

Only to release you

From your dark abode

To set you free

To wander content

In new surroundings

For you to see

We have no need of each other

This Much I Know

Routes are unmapped

And the journey is long

But you’ll know where you’re going

And the places you belong

There’ll be choices you’ve made

That you wish to forget

And there’ll be others you retell

Just as oft as you’re let

Experiences will shape you

With their pattern and design

And when you join up the dots

You can rejoice and not whine

Long days can be followed

By nights spent awake

As you accept your own truth

And you stop being fake

There’s no curtain call here

In this show we call life

Stepping out of your way

Is how to live without strife

It’s for real, no rehearsals

It won’t always make sense

In a world full of players

Packed crowded and dense

But there’s this that I know

That I’ve seen on the faces

Of the people looking busy

As they rush to their places

There’s no fixed destination

I repeat, as it’s true

As your meaning in life

Is defined just by you

The unevolved individual

Words fall to earth,

Weighted by the gravity

Of their intent

Ricocheting off the opinions

Of the observer,

The unevolved individual

Who deems himself worthy

Of adding his own content

Moulding the message

To serve his own meaning,

Creating a new translation,

Now just an echo

Of the truth

His heart screaming

At his spirit to stop

Muting its purpose,

Of ignoring

The lessons

Being taught

Charlie

He looked up as she walked

Across the wet grass

Acknowledging her presence

With a loyal gravitas

Gently nuzzling her pockets

As she haltered his head

Excitedly, anticipating

The food he’d be fed

Playfully throwing his head

Trotting next to her heel

Their pure, honest bond

The equine reveal

Without touch, with intent

They whisper their thoughts

A submissive interaction

That releases and supports

Moving together as one

They dance with the rope

Unconsciously connecting

They spiritually elope

napo2013button1

Surrounded, yet separate

Is a well meaning gesture

A smile etched across lips?

Totally surrounded, yet separate

Standing hands upon hips

Neither broken, nor whole

As I wander unseen

Without thought, without direction

A confined quarantine

Day to day living

Weightless in its appeal

Not a slight indentation

Nothing left to reveal

Dreams far more engaging

Show futility in routine

Such meaningless chitchat

Forges a reality unseen

The depth that I seek

Once expectation is removed

Reveals the script of my life

Nothing needs to be improved

So I turn and look back

And take ownership of me

Releasing all that’s not mine

I become who I should be
